Together for Tomorrow: A Night to Remember

Our inaugural Together for Tomorrow ball, held on 3rd November at the picturesque Goodwood House in Chichester, proved to be a resounding success, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare in Sussex. Sponsored by Willmott Dixon Interiors, the evening’s theme focused on supporting the future of healthcare for Sussex, providing supporters with insights into the strides made in funding advanced medical equipment and enhancing the patient experience.
Knowledgeable tour guides were available to lead guests through the rooms that have been part of the Duke of Richmond’s family home for over 300 years. Our ‘interactive space’ showcased tangible outcomes of our funding, such as Gaming Carts for the children’s ward and Virtual Reality goggles used to alleviate patient discomfort during intensive care procedures.
The grand ballroom served as the backdrop for the main event, hosted by the beloved TV broadcaster Natasha Kaplinsky OBE. Clinical speakers Dr. Martin Llewlyn and Dr. Robert Galloway from University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust shared valuable insights into the impact of charitable funding on medical advancements, particularly in emergency care and research and development.
Former patient Chris Ives took the stage, offering a poignant account of his life-changing experience with robotic knee surgery, made possible by cutting-edge equipment funded by the charity. His story highlighted the transformative power of advanced medical care in improving individual lives.
The vibrant atmosphere continued with a live auction conducted by the charismatic Jonny Gould, featuring incredible items such as a week’s stay in South Africa, a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce and theatre experience, and an exhilarating flight in a Spitfire. The evening concluded on a high note with live music from White Men Can’t Funk and a special celebrity DJ set from actress and radio presenter Denise Van Outen.
Director of Charities, Steve Crump OBE, expressed gratitude, saying, “The theme of our Together for Tomorrow Ball was not just a concept but a promise to invest in the relentless pursuit of excellence for patient care, to nurture innovation, and to empower our dedicated healthcare professionals at UHSussex.

This will enable My University Hospitals Sussex to continue to make a profound impact, ensuring that our hospitals remain at the forefront of cutting-edge medicine and compassionate care.”
