As pride season in Sussex this year winds down, leaving us with memories of a fantastic and vibrant celebration of acceptance, diversity, and unity. My University Hospitals Sussex, in its unwavering commitment to inclusivity, had the privilege of standing with all of you throughout this year’s pride festivities.

This year, My University Hospitals Sussex had the immense privilege of not just participating in Pride events across Sussex but also taking a leading role in championing LGBTQI+ rights and recognizing the incredible contributions of LGBTQI+ staff and volunteers who are the heartbeat of our local hospitals.

From the vibrant parades that wound their way through our towns and cities, where rainbow flags billowed in the breeze, to the iconic ‘UHSUSSEX LGBTQI+ Network Pride Awards and Volunteer Night’ held against the backdrop of the stunning i360 in Brighton, we were there, side by side with our LGBTQI+ community. The energy was infectious, the love and support palpable, and the sense of unity overwhelming.

As we look back on these unforgettable festivities, we are reminded of the core values that have guided My University Hospitals Sussex throughout its journey – inclusivity, respect, and unwavering support for all members of our community. Pride season is not just a time to celebrate; it’s a time to reaffirm our commitment to these values, to ensure that every individual, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, feels seen, heard, and valued.

The LGBTQI+ community has always been an integral part of Sussex, and it’s our honour to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. Pride season is a testament to the progress we’ve made, the battles we’ve won, and the love that unites us. It’s also a stark reminder that there is still work to be done, challenges to be faced, and barriers to be dismantled. My University Hospitals Sussex is committed to this ongoing journey toward a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Looking forward, we can’t help but be filled with anticipation for the next Pride season. The memories we’ve created this year will serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration. We eagerly await the opportunity to once again march in the parades, host celebrations, and honour the outstanding LGBTQI+ individuals who make our hospitals better every day.

As Pride season in Sussex concludes for this year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every individual who joined us in this remarkable journey. Your support, your love, and your commitment to acceptance and diversity are what make Pride season in Sussex truly magical. Together, we’ve shown that love will always triumph over hate, that unity will always overcome division, and that no one should ever feel alone or marginalized.

See you again next year, as we continue this incredible journey toward a brighter and more inclusive future for Sussex and beyond.

There was festive magic at the Royal Sussex County Hospital last week as Santa stopped by ahead of the big day 🎅

He spread some Christmas cheer to children of staff and patients - chatting, singing and handing out gifts 🎁

Thank you to Santa for taking the time to stop by ✨
