My University Hospitals Sussex supports staff celebrations for Philippines Independence Day.

The Philippines marked its 126th Independence Day on Wednesday 12th June 2024 and the Filipino community at the University Hospitals Sussex, with support from My University Hospitals Sussex, celebrated the event across our hospitals. Proudly showcasing the Philippines history, culture, heritage and geography, and offering traditional Filipino food and drinks to all who attended.

“We are very grateful to the Trust charity as it has played a crucial role in facilitating the celebration of the Philippines Independence Day at UHSussex by providing the necessary resources and support to mark the occasion”

“Filipinos form a significant portion of the NHS workforce and this is mirrored at the University Hospitals Sussex. By celebrating the Philippines Independence Day, the Trust acknowledges the valuable contributions and dedication of Filipino staff to the healthcare system. This recognition fosters a sense of appreciation and belonging among Filipino staff.

In addition, an event like this promotes diversity and inclusion, enhancing cultural awareness and fostering a supportive and cohesive work environment. It has far-reaching benefits that improves staff morale, patient care and community relations.” – Edmund Tabay, Hospital Director of Nursing, Princess Royal Hospital

We’re delighted to be supporting the Philippines Independence Day celebrations, and saying a big thank you to the Filipino community for all you do across the Trust. For your dedication, your commitment, and all that you do for patients, staff and the community” – Steve Crump OBE, Director of Charities & Voluntary Services.
